Art Tours Japan

2016 Autumn Tour (October) booked out.
2017 Spring Tour (May) is cancelled as Gary is curating an exhibition of Japanese art
at the National Libary of Australia from 24 May - 24 August.
2017 Autumn Tour (Monday 16 - Saturday 28 October) – book early as places are limited.

Beginning in the historically significant southern city of Fukuoka and finishing in the ancient capital of Kyoto these unique small-group tours include trips to sites that have been most popular with our tour members over the last seven years. They encompass aspects of both traditional and modern Japanese art with discussions and visits
to important art museum collections, temples, shrines, gardens and craft centers.

As well as site visits in Kyoto we will also spend extended time at the ‘art island’ of Naoshima
with its modernist museums and art collections and in northern Kyushu where there will be time
to enjoy traditional hospitality at a Japanese hot springs inn.

On these unique tours, internationally renowned art historian and curator of Japanese Art, Dr. Gary Hickey
and his wife Haruyo Maeda share with a small group of art lovers their vast knowledge of Japan
and their passion for its breathtaking cultural and artistic heritage.
