Japan Art Tours
Japan Art Tours was established in 2008 with the intention of providing a unique opportunity to join a small group of no more than 6 like-minded people exploring Japan’s exciting cultural and artistic heritage.
Most tours to Japan consist of large groups of 20 or more, led by flag-waving, locally employed tour guides visiting tourist traps. We organise and conduct our own tours and endeavor to make our tours to less visited places feel like a group of friends enjoying and appreciating Japan together.
Visits to Japan often leave the visitor bewildered by the cultural differences and complexity of artistic expression. By providing a context for understanding the history of Japan our tours will enhance the participants’ appreciation of the art and culture.
Our Tours
Most tours of Japan follow a well-worn tourist route. Our tour leaders have spent a lifetime traveling Japan and are well aware of how crowds can mar one’s experience of a place. We have carefully designed this tour to provide an opportunity to see art sites in Japan that are seldom included in large tours. Our bespoke tours of genuinely small groups allow for a personalized experience of Japan’s hidden art treasures led by enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour leaders.
Our art tours change year by year and are designed to not only include sites that have proven popular on previous tours but also new and exciting art sites. For a selection of sites included in previous tours please visit our ‘Past Tours’ page. For further details on our upcoming tours, please click on the link below.
